A Hidden Gem on the California Coast

Surrounded by breathtaking mountains and flowers that blossom in the Spring, Avila Beach is the perfect paradise for beach goers at any time of the year.

Located on the California coast, Avila Beach is an oceanic paradise suitable for anyone who needs a breath of fresh air. Avila was named to commemorate Miguel Ávila, who was granted Rancho San Miguelito, the land which Avila stands on. The town was officially established in 1907, and the iconic Avila Beach Pier started construction in 1908. Today, it stretches 1,685 feet long and is occupied by tourist and recreational fishers. Since then, other landmarks have been established, giving Avila the character it has today. There is the Circle of Life, the tile mosaic in the shape of a Nautilus Shell, which depicts the rich history of the land and community of Avila. Walking along it displays the evolution of Avila from the time of the Chumash Indians, to the oil spill, to the clean up that made the town what it is today. Avila’s shore sits just seven miles north of Pismo and seven miles south of San Luis Obispo.
